This past weekend was the CAVAC art fair!! First time selling at an actual art fair, first time using paypal here, and first time collecting sales tax. Didn't sell as much as we wanted to, although I believe it was just due to a different type of clientele. Since we have so much left over, we'll be listing out extra stuff online for sale.
We also signed up to Retrogamecon, which is going to be in November! Very excited for this, look forward to new patterns!!

New pattern database
For the past few months, I have been working on the new instagram page for Secretly Gnoming. We've been doing pretty well and getting a lot more traction on our store and facebook pages. As such, we've had more and more people asking for patterns for the things we post. While we've had them listed in our shop, storenvy doesn't allow for direct digital downloads.
Thus we are now in the process of moving our patterns to Ravelry, where they can be directly downloaded without us having to email them. There are still free patterns available on our facebook page, but we will probably ALSO have them available as PDF downloads on Ravelry.

New year, New cons
It's been a while since my last journal update....
In november we sold at RetroGameCon in Syracuse for the first time. It went pretty well, considering we have only sold at anime conventions and not video game conventions in the past. The crowd seemed to be less interested in original work and more interested in fanart than they are at anime cons.
Over the holiday season we were accepted into Toracon 2017 artist alley!! I'm very excited to be selling there again, as I wasn't admitted last year. Now that we accept credit cards and have our online store (with business cards and other promotional items as well) I think we're going to do espec
more news
A lot of good has happened in the past six weeks which has kept me too busy to crochet:
My boyfriend moved back into town, so I've happily been able to spend more time with him :). It's the end of the semester as well right now, so of course I have a lot of school work to do. Then, I just recently got hired for a summer job, which has been taking up the remainder of my free time. Balancing everything so far has been tough, but once the semester's over, it should even out again.
In crochet news, we did not get off any of the waitlists for the cons we applied to (so sad u.u). But! My friend and I are planning to sell at a local art fair later

Applied to Otakon and Toracon artist alleys and got waitlisted on both, unfortunately...
Honestly, I wasn't really surprised about Otakon, and although it's disappointing, I'm not too upset about it. I wasn't really expecting to be waitlisted for Toracon though. I started selling there in 2011 and I've been there every year since - to not go this year would be really weird and sad :/ I mean, there is a chance I could still be chosen as people drop out, but I was told that they let people in off the list based first on what they make (plush, metalwork, etc) and then on a first-come first-serve basis. From my experience, there are very few oth
